A 7 day all inclusive surf course designed for those who want to make surfing part of their lifestyle. The course is suitable for complete beginners and intermediate surfers who want to take their surfing to the next level.

Surfing:

The aim with the surfing is to get the beginner surfer able to progress from beginner waves to be riding open faced, green, waves by the end of the week. For the intermediate surfer the aim is to progress their surfing to the level set out at the beginning of the course.

 Beginner surfers start out at the beach break with “learn to surf” lessons for the first three days and then, depending on their ability and progress, moving further out into the surf break. The final goal is then to paddle out to a gentle intermediate break, Kitchen Windows, and ride open faced waves.

For intermediate surfers it will start where the instructor will paddle out with the surfer on the first lesson and assess their ability. A plan with goals to improve on, will then be set out and over the week this plan will be the basis for the lessons.

 The course consists of seven two hour surf lessons.

J-Bay Surf School will provide, where needed, all the surfing equipment and the instructor is a qualified SSA Surf Instructor.

As the surfer progresses more advanced surfboards will be used.

Equipment is available to practice on outside off the set lessons.

Surf Tour:

During the course a Surf Tour will be done on one of the days. Depending on the conditions it will either be to Cape St Francis or to the other breaks in and around Jeffreys Bay.

 Visit to a Surfboard Shaper:

A visit to a local Surfboard Shaper will give insight into what it takes to create a surfboard and all the different surfboard shapes. 

Visit to the J-Bay Surf Museum:

A visit to the highly informative J-Bay Surf Museum will tell the story of how surfing started and develop in J-Bay and how the town has grown over the past 40 years.

 Accommodation: Backpackers

The highly rated Backpackers is used for the accommodation during the seven days. Situated on the beach above the surf breaks used for the Academy, it is the ideal place to live the surfers lifestyle.

The choice of accommodation at the backpackers is either:
a) Dorm Room or
b) Private Room with on’ suite bathroom. 

The price of the Academy will vary according to the kind of accommodation that is chosen.

A fully licensed bar, pool table, broad band internet, satellite TV and a safe for valuables are all available at the backpackers.

Meals at Backpackers:

Included in the Academy is breakfast and dinner at the in house Backpackers Restaurant. Various options are available for breakfast and a meal of the day is done for supper. Vegetarian options are available.

For lunch there are many coffee shops in town and lunch is also served at the Backpackers Restaurant. A guest kitchen is also available at Island Vibe for those wanting to prepare their own lunch.

 Accommodation: Guesthouse

Located on the waters edge of the world class waves of Supertubes, this superbly positioned Guest House offers a unique beach front experience.

Each suite has a stylish decor complete with it's own private balcony where a breath taking view of waves, dolphins and exquisite African sunrises can be experienced.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast in our a la carte restaurant and great evening meals.
