Sand boarding lessons
The
beaches surrounding Jeffreys Bay are home to the biggest and most
spectacular dune fields in South Africa. Sandboarding is very similar to
Snowboarding except you’re in the sun and on the beach! It’s fast, fun and
easy to learn. J-bay Sand boarding operates at Marina Martinique from the
Tapas Restaurant.
Horse riding Papiesfontein
There is a circular horse trail of 13 km. You will first ride
through indigenous coastal vegetation over the dunes to Gamtoos river mouth.
They offer different horses for different skill levels. People don’t need to
have experience. You will meet at the farm Papiesfontein just outside
Jeffreys bay. There is also free-range horse riding (without a guide) for
confident riders.
Oyster Bay
Oyster Bay is a village not far from Jeffreys Bay. If you want to ride a
horse in the sun, through the dunes and over the beach, then you must go for
this experience. They offer guided tours and for the more experienced people
are self-guided tours.
Surfing
Jeffreys Bay has many different surf breaks each possessing its own magic.
Kitchen Windows
(near Main
Beach): This surf break is an excellent place to learn how to ride waves. It
is a peak that breaks left and right.
Magna Tubes:
This is a fast powerful and classic wave, as good as anywhere else. It is
good for surfing, paddle skiing and knee boarding.
Super Tubes:
This is the ultimate test of your surfing ability. It is very fast,
powerful, very hollow and very long. It is suited only to people experienced
in surfing, knee boarding and paddle skiing (only the top few paddle skiers
in the country could possibly handle it). Super Tubes - the best!
Tubes: This is a short, perfect hollow wave. It is suited for
all forms of wave riding. Once you master Tubes, you can surf Super Tubes.
Point: The Point is 100% enjoyable with cutback sections and
everything else you could possibly want from a wave.
Albatross
(near
Kabeljous Caravan Park): A wave in the same class as Point and mostly
uncrowded. Suited for all forms of wave riding. Surfboards and accessories
can be rented from the nearest Surf Shop
Paintball games:
Jeffrey’s Bay offers more than just ordinary paintball, we
offer the full experience. The latest markers (guns), international safety
standards, fresh out of the box games that have never been played before and
for the real enthusiast glow in the dark night games.
